Artists in Schools

The Yard’s longstanding Artists-in-the-Schools program brings highly skilled dance educators into the Martha’s Vineyard schools yearly, offering both culturally specific dance traditions and creative movement, and introducing students to the tools, techniques, and vocabulary of dance.  Multicultural residencies have brought the music and dances of West Africa, Korea, Brazil, Italy, India, Ireland, and Spain to island children. Recent teaching artists have included Claire Porter, Daniel Fetecua Soto of The Limón Dance Company, Broadway fight choreographer David Brimmer, Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company, Nora Chipaumire, and Freefall ltd.
