Making it kids Programs
MAKING IT is a year round creativity resource for Martha’s Vineyard kids! Learn more about our programs:
KidsDODance! Summer Program
KidsDODance! is The Yard’s five-week summer creative dance and choreography program for children ages six to eleven. Participants have the opportunity to build dance skills and technique, nurture their creative voices through group choreography studies, and develop connections to the professional dancers in residence at The Yard and the Martha’s Vineyard community.
Please check back in the early summer of 2019 for the announcement of the KDD Summer Program 2019 dates.
MAKING IT In Schools
Making It works with Charter and Public Schools island-wide to offer classes and workshops with Yard staff and guest artists.
MAKING IT In The Community
Making It partners with many Martha’s Vineyard organizations, including the Oak Bluffs Library, the Edgartown Library, the Chilmark Free Public Library, the Chappaquiddick Community Center, the MV African American Heritage Trail, the YARD ARTS summer festival, and others to bring dance and creativity programing to the island. Please see our community listings for family friendly events.
MAKING IT is The Yard’s dance-making curriculum and creativity initiative with programs for all ages across the island in various locations. MAKING IT is a model that uses dance as an outlet to connect curricular themes, build collaborations, spark creativity, and support critical thinking. The Yard is committed to the success of MAKING IT and has pledged to absorb 100% of the program's cost. MAKING IT is currently supported by The Doris Duke Charitable Fund, Barr Foundation, The Tower Family Fund, Permanent Endowment of Martha's Vineyard, and The Martha's Vineyard Savings Bank.
