Zach Khoo is a senior currently finishing a BFA in Dance at UT Austin. Since coming to UT he has had the opportunity to perform in works by Paul Taylor, Mark Morris, Merce Cunningham, Sidra Bell and Alex Ketley to name a few. In addition to stage work Zach is also involved with independent works outside and within the department. Last fall, he had the opportunity to represent the dance department in a study abroad exchange with CNDC Angers, France; there he danced in works by Robert Swinston, James Carles, Shlomi Tuizer, Malou Airaudo and Ohad Naharin. His artistic endeavors also extend to audio creation and mixing, and photography. He has photographed local dance performances and mainstage productions such as UT Austin's Dance Repertory Theatre. After graduating, he plans to continue being involved in the dance scene, on stage and off.
Fun fact: Zach is a huge sneakerhead, and loves collecting and wearing a different pair of kicks everyday.
Community Programs & Education
Maggie Lipton is a soon-to-be graduate of NYU Steinhardt's Dance Education program, and will hold certification to teach dance in New York City's public schools. Before graduate school, she attended Trinity College in Hartford where she majored in Theater and Dance with a focus in community outreach. Maggie has been using dance as a means for impacting change since the age of sixteen, when she started a dance company called Dance4Peace that raised funds and awareness for social justice issues. She is always looking for new experiences to engage with children and communities through dance, and is excited to apply her education skills and knowledge this summer as the Community Programs and Education intern at The Yard.
Fun fact: Between college and graduate school, Maggie worked as an au-pair in a small village in Western Germany and looked after three rowdy children.
Originally from Milwaukee, Meghan McVann recently graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Dance and Theatre Major. Through her education, she has experienced all facets of a show including: working in the costume shop, lighting shop, scenic shop, as a stage manager, and performing in both theatre and dance shows. She loves new experiences and is incredibly excited to experience something completely new this summer with/alongside The Yard.
Fun Fact: Meghan also dabbles in music. She plays the cello and saxophone as well as her vocal chords (sings).
Raised in Vermont, Aria Roach graduates from Virginia Commonwealth University with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Choreography with University Honors this May. She spent six months studying Gaga at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance while attending the Hebrew University in Israel and in 2015, Aria received a VCUarts Dean's International Study Grant to travel to the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna, Austria. She has been involved with dance in several capacities including performance, choreography, film, and outreach. Her experiences representing VCUarts in student panels, open houses, and the Boomerang recruitment program have launched her into her position as The Yard's Artist Services Intern this summer.
Fun Fact: Aria is a life-long vegetarian, and highly enjoys experimenting with recipes!
