Lead Making It Curriculum Designer

Daria FItzgerald (MA Dance Education: New York University, BA Theology: Sacred Heart University) works collaboratively with Jesse Keller Jason in writing the Yard’s MAKING IT curriculum for public and charter schools. She interned in the Yard’s KidsDODance Summer Program in 2018. As a New York State certified dance teacher, Daria created the dance program for and teaches at Learning Through Play Pre-K Center in the Bronx. She has guest lectured at NYU Steinhardt and at the 92 Street Y’s Dance Education Laboratory. While in graduate school, Daria founded the Steinhardt Dance Education Association and was selected as the graduation banner bearer for the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions. She also served as the Graduate Student Representative to the Board of Directors of the National Dance Education Organization. Daria regularly presents her research and leads workshops at national conferences. She enjoys expanding her knowledge of dance and education through attending professional development opportunities, taking dance classes, and occasionally performing in various venues across NYC.
