CLASSES

The Yard will not be offering yoga or community dance class in summer 2021 due to the impact of COVID-19 in an effort to keep our resident artists and community safe. We are looking forward to the day when we can safely have you all moving and dancing in our studio again!

What is it like to…
take a class at The Yard?

Before A class
In-person classes are currently not offered due to covid-19

The Yard offers classes at our studio and at partner organizations around Martha’s Vineyard. Please check where your class will be held!

If your class is at The Yard, you will find the open-air studio as the second building you encounter on the right side of the road when you drive into our campus. It has wooden barn doors with a distinctive diagonal pattern. They will most likely be open. Come on in!

Parking is available in front of the studio and in the circular parking area at the end of the access road.

For Community Dance Class, you can purchase a single class or class pass online or in person. Classes are $20 each with discounted class passes available. If you have not already paid for class, please arrive at least 10 minutes early. Someone will be in the studio with a laptop to assist you.

During A class

Since our classes are in the morning, it is usually a little chilly in the studio, but you will warm up when you get moving! We recommend dressing in layers and bringing socks. For Community Dance Class, you are welcome to dance in your socks, bare feet, ballet slippers, or jazz shoes. Please refrain from wearing sneakers or tap shoes in the studio unless directed by the instructor. Please don’t bring rosin. You will also want to bring a water bottle with you.

We welcome all experience levels and ages to class! Whether you are a novice or a teacher yourself, in your twenties or your seventies, our classes are for you. Instructors teach in a flexible style that allows for a wide variety of skill levels to learn together.
