Nyja White is an alumna of  Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts with a minor in Theatre Dance focusing primarily on Dance, Directing, Stage Management, and Dramaturgy. As a POSSE Scholar, Nyja has held leadership positions in Student Senate, Women of Color, Black Student Union, Student Choreographed Danced Concert, Residential Advising, Admissions, and has completed Assistant Student Research with Dr. Michelle Cowin-Gibbs on the African American woman’s experience in Theatre and Dance. Nyja’s Professional positions include her work with Angelique Racki Founder of Breaking Chains Advancing Increase, Performing Arts Director David Kote’, Creative Director India Mack, Deneane Richburg Founder of Brownbody, Lela Aisha Jones at FlyGround, and Vershawn Sanders-Ward Founder of Red Clay Dance Company. Nyja aspires to have an African American based Theatre- Dance Company for youth that face adversities but want to express themselves and have a place to call home.
