Due to an increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases, The Yard's presentation of "Avimukta” by Ragamala Dance Company scheduled for Friday, July 19th at the MV Performing Arts Center, has been cancelled.

We are actively working on rescheduling Ragamala Dance Company’s residency at The Yard, and hope to present this performance in the coming year.

We understand that this news is disappointing and appreciate your understanding and respect for our decision prioritizing public safety.

We apologize to those who have made special arrangements to attend.

If you have any comments or questions regarding the cancellation, or need information about ticket refunds or exchanges, please email: clairepage@dancetheyard.org.

Company

Minneapolis-based, Ragamala Dance Company is led by the mother and daughters choreographic partnership of Ranee, Aparna, and Ashwini Ramaswamy. Rooted in the dance form of Bharatanatyam, Ragamala’s expansive work centers around the kindred relationship between the ancient and contemporary. Through multi-disciplinary dance works, engaging the community, and educating the next generation, Ragamala epitomizes intercultural and immigrant narratives that evoke a shared sense of humanity. For Ragamala, the family is an artistic incubator through which they craft multidisciplinary, intercultural dance landscapes.

Avimukta: Where the Seeker Meets the Sacred

Avimukta: Where the Seeker Meets the Sacred is an intimate ritual for the stage in which the dancers are seekers, engrossed in rituals of sacred contemplation that become an ecstatic prayer celebrating the inevitable dissolution of life. The performance features soloists Ranee, Aparna, and Ashwini Ramaswamy with Ragamala Dance Company.
