Works with: Director of Marketing and Graphic Design, the Director of Dancing Camera, Senior Staff, fellow Interns, festival artists, local media personnel
The Digital Marketing Media Intern is a:
• Digital Video Camera Operator
• Video Editor
• Social Media Video Marketing Strategist
Focused Responsibilities:
Capturing and archiving of all Yard programming and several community events with digital video
Creating, planning, and executing 1-2 Yard summer season video projects for marketing or development needs
Creating weekly promo videos
Hang show posters around the island in collaboration with the Marketing Intern
Core Skills Required:
The ability to use video cameras in a professional and artful manner (experience with performance or event documentation is a plus)
Strong video editing skills
An interest in video marketing
Knowledge of how to maintain and troubleshoot video and audio equipment
The ability to use email and phone communication responsibility and effectively
Additional skills in digital still photography, video interviews, audio capturing, video color correction, and motion graphics are not required but are a plus

The Video Production Internship
The Video Production Intern is a unique and essential position in a thriving arts organization. The ideal candidate is a highly self-motivated and detail-oriented creative with a strong aesthetic eye and interest in filmmaking, documentary, and video marketing. In addition to working directly with artists and staff, and the Video Production Intern has one-to-one mentoring from two video production professionals. Responsible for all of the organization's archival and promotional video needs, the ideal candidate is self-directed, and has the ability to work effectively in a group and with multiple supervisors. Key skills include a high degree of technological comfort, a calm problem-solving nature, and the ability to plan and organize in order to meet deadlines.
As evidenced in the portfolio requirements, a successful applicant has proven experience in videography, video editing, sound integration, and basic social media video marketing. If not already familiar, this applicant must be open to learning Adobe Premiere and must be willing to take innovative approaches in order to capture, produce and market a performing arts non-profit through video. Comfort with video equipment is expected, although training is provided. Experience with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Vimeo are a plus. In addition to other shared intern responsibilities, the video-specific weekly responsibilities include production and event filming, editing and promotional video creation, and footage management and archiving.
The successful candidate will train directly with Dancing Camera's Executive and Creative Director, Nic Petry, throughout the season both in-person and remotely. Intensive training sessions and mentoring will provide the opportunity to learn new skills, advance knowledge, and build a foundation for a career in video. Additionally, the Video Production Media Intern will work in-person and remotely with the Director of Marketing and Graphic Design, who is also a videographer and video editor with Dancing Camera, to develop video campaigns, critique video work, and produce the promotional videos. The Video Production Intern will collaborate with the Marketing Intern to create social media campaigns. An ability to work with remote supervisors and under high pressure is key.
At the end of the internship, the candidate will have made substantial advancements in understanding live production filming strategies and techniques, and gained command in creating videos for online promotional distribution. The video they create can be used for their portfolio.
