no pre-registration requiredDeborah Damast is the Program Director of Dance Education at NYU Steinhardt where in addition to teaching, she is Artistic Director of concerts, Kaleidoscope Dancers, and the Uganda study abroad program. Deb is also The Yard’s very own Director of The Yard's Kids Do Dance Program. Her choreography has been shown at over 40 venues in NYC including Ailey Citigroup, Peridance, World Financial Center, Riverside Church, Judson Church, Symphony Space, Cooper Union, 92Y, 14th St. Y, Skirball Theatre, and internationally in Japan, Uganda, Korea, Italy, and Canada.

Modern Dance for Life with Noami Goldberg Haas

10:45am - 12pm
The Yard’s Dance StudioBeginning Modern Dance class with a warmup based on various standing and gentle exercises, a floor section with Pilates and Yoga influenced moves. Class is concluded with adaptable full bodied phrases large movement across the floor and an easy gratitude ending. Open to all abilities!

no pre-registration requiredNaomi Goldberg Haas is the founder and artistic director of Dances for a Variable Population, which received the 2024 Outstanding Dance Organization Award from the National Dance Education Organization. She is also recent author of Moving through Life. In a career that has spanned concert dance, theater, opera, and film, Naomi danced with the Pacific Northwest Ballet and founded the intergenerational/mixed ability dance company Los Angeles Modern Dance & Ballet. A leader in the field of creative aging, she also received the 2023 Lifetime Impact in Dance Education award from the New York State Dance Education Association.

Movement Speaks with Naomi Goldberg Haas

Edgartown Library (note: NOT at The Yard)In partnership with the Edgartown Library and The Anchors (Edgartown Council on Aging) The Yard is offering one of Noami Goldberg Haas’ signature classes developed for the NYC based Dances for a Variable Population. The class offers creative movement choices, strengthening of major muscle groups, stretch, and the "making of a dance” for socialization, happiness and gratitude. Class uses chairs at the beginning and no Floor work.
Space limited - FREE but registration through Edgartown Public Library required.
