Movement Scoring: A Summer Dance Workshop
Catherine Kirk’s Workshop begins with a flowing and integrated warm-up to prime the body holistically and ready the mind to be present for full physical exploration. Themes of grounding, release, and fantastical storytelling are honed as undercurrents to allow for engagement into fiery spurts and playful misdirections that create a bold dynamic range while remaining precise through movement. Catherine’s choreographic phrase work uniquely pulls from a blend of contemporary, release, and post-modern modalities engrained with her own ancestral movement form. We will approach movement with maximal sensation and less effort. Class exists to create a safe environment to play in your unique vibrancy, connect with your community, take up space, try on new forms, and try again!
