COVID-19 Update
Updated May 18, 2020
Dear friends,
We hope this note finds you and yours in good health.
Last month, we let you know that all programs on The Yard’s campus had been cancelled through the end of June. We know now that July and August will not bring the hustle and bustle of a typical Yard Arts summer season. We yearn for the mornings when we are mat-to-mat in yoga and face-to-face in dance class; the afternoons when artists are at work in our studio, their music and laughter spilling out; the evenings when we come together in the Nanon Theater to be provoked, entertained, and transformed by performance. We miss being in person with each and every one of you.
The uncertainty that COVID-19 presents calls on us to get creative. We are excited to launch Yoga at The Yard and Community Dance Class ONLINE this June. We are also enhancing our series of interactive, creative prompts to incorporate some of the artists we had planned to present this summer. More information on both of those programs will be coming soon.
We are considering options for safe in person programming in July and August, in the event that public health guidelines permit and demand exists. We are working on a month-by-month basis, so we can be responsive to the evolving needs of those we serve. We assure you that we will continue to prioritize your health and wellbeing and make decisions that support The Yard’s longevity. We want to be here for you for generations to come.
Please don’t hesitate to be in touch with us at info@dancetheyard.org.
Take care,
The Yard Staff
Updated April 6, 2020
Dear friends,
Because of COVID-19 we have decided to cancel all programming on The Yard’s campus through at least the end of June. We had planned to announce the 2020 Yard Arts summer season this week, and it pains us to deliver this message instead. We are heartbroken to let down so many remarkable artists and our beloved patrons.
We will continue to monitor public health guidelines and prioritize the safety of our community. If we can offer programs in July and August, we hope to do so.
It has been a trying couple of months for us all, as we have watched our world change in unexpected and unprecedented ways. We are trusting that silver linings will reveal themselves, including in the way today’s artists will process the situation and emerge from it. We are committed to continuing to support artists, helping our field rebuild, and keeping our local community vibrant.
We hope to remain connected with you during this challenging time through the creative prompts and other engagement activities we are organizing virtually. More than ever, we need your support to ensure The Yard’s community remains strong. Please stay tuned, stay close, and stay safe.
In solidarity,
The Yard Staff
