2021 KIDSDODANCE UPDATE

KidsDoDance will not be offered in Summer 2021 due to the impact of COVID-19 in an effort to keep our resident artists and community safe. We are so sorry to disappoint, and we hope to see you for KidsDoDance in summer 2022!

KidsDODance! is The Yard’s five-week summer creative dance and choreography program for children ages 11 to 14 for Week 1 and ages 6 to 11 for Weeks 2 - 5.

Participants have the opportunity to build dance skills and technique, nurture their creative voices through group choreography studies, and develop connections to the professional dancers in residence at The Yard and the Martha’s Vineyard community.

KidsDoDance is designed by NYC-based dance educator Deborah Damast. The instructors are Yard staff members or dance educators who have come to The Yard to specifically teach this course. During class, the instructors will lead kids in a positive, creative environment. They’ll be encouraged to write, draw, dance, and act as they develop new ways to express their ideas. At the end of each week, the class will present their work to parents and guardians during the Friday class time.

What’s it like to send my child to KidsDODance?

BEFORE KIDSDODANCE

You can sign your child up for KidsDoDance online. We recommend signing up well before the program starts, since classes can sell out. KidsDoDance meets in The Patricia Nanon Theater, which is the second building on your right as you drive down The Yard’s dirt road. The theater is connected to the Open Air Studio. Please see the instructor inside to sign your child in for the class. Parking is available in front of the studio and in the circular parking area at the end of the access road. Parents or guardians do not need to stay for class. If you would like to relax on our campus while class is happening, you are welcome to enjoy our Shell Garden.
