Sean Dorsey is a San Francisco-based choreographer, dancer, writer, teaching artist and cultural activist.

 

Recognized as the U.S.’ first acclaimed transgender modern dance choreographer, Dorsey has toured his work to more than 30 cities across the US and abroad – and taught with his explicitly trans-positive pedagogy in more than 35 cities.

Sean Dorsey Dance’s multi-year project The Lost Art of Dreaming is an invitation to embrace expansive imagination, reconnect with longing, connect with joy and pleasure, and propel ourselves toward loving futures. The Lost Art Of Dreaming is performed by a powerhouse ensemble of five trans, queer and gender-non-conforming dancers with a rich, layered soundscore featuring original and commissioned music.

Sean Dorsey Public Conversation (Free event)

The Yard is partnering with Queer Hub MV and the West Tisbury Library to host a conversation on Sean Dorsey Dance’s multi-year project, The Lost Art of Dreaming. It is an invitation to embrace expansive imagination, reconnect with longing, connect with joy and pleasure, and propel ourselves toward loving futures. The conversation will surround Queer and Trans joy and is a welcome space for all.

July 5th, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Grange Hall.

All Levels Trans and Queer Friendly Dance Class

TERRIFIED BEGINNERS WELCOME! This all-levels, super-friendly workshop led by transgender choreographer Sean Dorsey and his all-queer/gender-nonconforming/non-binary company will lead us through mindful breathing, meditation, a gentle warmup, movement exercises … and then creative self-expression through movement! For ALL humans and ALL levels – including terrified “non-dancers”!

Please join us for this super-friendly and welcoming workshop (especially if you’re terrified!). All are welcome!
